There was a time when I had delivered something through amazon and had gotten a FED-EX massage describing a delivery notice, to me it was odd as It seemed strange to get delivery massages through FED-EX. When I read the message it seemed authentic, it stated a message of “please confirm address as package could not be delivered.” and “delivery fee is required. If payment is not made the order is will be canceled please access this link now.”, from the sense of the statement it seemed authentic to me though I knew it was fake as I had checked my email to make sure Amazon had details on my package. In what I learned in IS class is that the scammer used a few tactics consisting of Urgency, so I would click on the message and links. Scammers use this type of tactic to make people click without proper questioning of the authenticity of the message. If you ever click on these links they send you to a website similar to the actual one and they require personal information, they do this through unofficial senders like “FedEx_customeremailsender@gmail.com” or through unknown Id callers. Once these links are clicked or the scam is processed what happens is various things such as making fraudulent purchases with your account or using your identification for financial fraud. Conclusively in order to avoid this always check and confirm details, confirm with others or the best case scenario be logical.
